As much as we Iowans like to talk about the season and the weather, I sometimes secretly think I could be satisfied with just two months: May and October.
Wonderful! I didn't know about miniature pussytoes. I've probably seen them but just didn't pay enough attention. May and October are my favorite months too.
LOVE all the birds! Really starting to appreciate them more now that I have time to look. Once you're done in that wonderful Loess Hills conference, come visit us at Draco Hill Nature Farm. We'd love to host you both.
Hi Larry, what a great pictorial record of your May adventures! Colette and I have been keeping phenology records of sites around Johnson County for over 32 years. I so wish I had added photos to those records. Love the orioles and your handmade jelly feeders. Our orioles visit the hummingbird feeder, and the hummingbirds are at the oriole feeder!! Climate Change??? Love your handmade Jelly feeders. Thanks much for your notice about our Annual Loess Hills Prairie Seminar and link to our website. Won't be long until our 50th. Annual Seminar Anniversary!! Have fun the rest of May, Best regards, Bill.
Thanks, Suzan! Please remind me how to find Draco Hill. A busy summer ahead - but who knows where we might wander!

I like the look of your jelly feeders. Did you make them?
Yep. Repurposed plastic jars mounted on wood scraps. Very high tech!
Wonderful, Larry! I identify with your dilemma of seasonal chores or choosing to soak in the joy of nature!
Thanks, Jo!
