I didn't know that about chickadees, thanks. I'm feeding a “banditry" of them, a "party" of blue jays and a "chittering" of dark-eyed juncos in addition to many other birds. 😊
I recall watching "Roots" in February 1977 and for a week i don't think the temp got above 0*. We were young, living in an older house and snuggled on the couch.
I know that winter temps are the least of the challenges to birds right now, but I can't help shuddering for the poor chickadees shivering all night to keep warm. Bless your warm heart Larry.

Thank you Larry for your insights and photos. Today the temps will rise to the thirties. We’ve certainly been on a roller coaster ride this winter.
